Ray Gargano comes to the Orange County Arts Education Center from Cleveland, Ohio where he was the Assistant Director of Community Engagement and Education at PlayhouseSquare. Prior to his work at the performing arts center, he taught high school English, theatre and journalism and was as an adjunct instructor at Notre Dame College and the University of Akron, teaching pre-service and practicing teachers technology integration and public speaking. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications in Education at Kent State University and his master’s in Instructional Technology at the University of Akron. As an arts administrator, he served on the boards of the Ohio Alliance for Art Education and Mercury Summer Stock Theatre, the Kennedy Center’s Partners in Education Advisory Committee, the Ohio Department of Education’s Committee for the Arts and Innovative Thinking, and as the chair of the Education Directors of Performing Arts Centers Consortium. He is excited to be a part of the Center and continue his work making high-quality arts education experiences accessible for all ages.
